96 Plate Mesa Oil Cooler Kit (With Electric Fan) Complete Kit

EMPI 96 plate Mesa external oil cooler kit with electric cooling fan and full flow oil system components for VW Type 1 aircooled engines. Designed for extreme performance, turbocharged, off-road and competition engines requiring maximum oil cooling and filtration capacity.

The large 96 plate Mesa cooler delivers exceptional cooling performance using Mesa-cool’s multiple flow path design, increasing cooling efficiency while maintaining excellent oil flow and minimal pressure loss. This allows oil temperatures to remain stable even under sustained high RPM and heavy load conditions.

Manufactured from aerospace quality aluminium using fluxless oven-brazed construction, the cooler is highly resistant to vibration, corrosion and cracking. The finned slimline design improves heat dissipation while allowing installation in confined areas.

The included electric cooling fan provides forced airflow through the cooler when vehicle speed alone is insufficient, making this system highly effective in traffic, off-road driving, hill climbs, drag racing and hot climates. The supplied fan thermostat automatically switches the fan on and off as oil temperatures rise and fall.

This complete kit includes a full flow oil pump cover and oil return adaptor, allowing oil to be routed externally through the remote oil filter and cooler system before returning to the engine. The remote screw-on oil filter head improves filtration while simplifying future servicing and maintenance.

Oil cooler mounting brackets, oil hose and fittings are also included for installation. Additional hose length may be required depending on cooler mounting location.
