This aluminium oil filter head is designed for full flow external oil filter and cooler systems on aircooled VW engines. With left-facing inlet and outlet ports once mounted, it provides a clean and practical solution for routing oil lines in custom engine builds and performance setups.
In a full flow system, oil is routed out of the engine, through an external filter (and often an oil cooler), before returning back into the engine. This setup significantly improves oil filtration and cooling compared to the standard internal system, helping extend engine life—especially on high-performance or hard-driven engines.
This filter head is machined from durable aluminium and is designed to accept popular spin-on filters such as the FRAM HP1, FRAM HP3, or the common VW Golf type filter (056115561). The ports are tapped for 3/8″ male pipe fittings, allowing flexible hose routing depending on your installation. Typically, 1/2″ hose barbs or fittings are used to connect oil lines.
The left outlet design is particularly useful where space or routing requires oil lines to exit in a specific direction, helping keep installations neat and efficient.
