This TRW front wheel cylinder is designed for drum brake equipped VW Beetles, Karmann Ghias, and VW 181 Trekker models manufactured from October 1957 onwards. Manufactured by TRW, a leading original equipment braking supplier, this wheel cylinder provides reliable hydraulic brake operation with OEM-quality fit and performance.

The wheel cylinder is a key hydraulic braking component which converts brake fluid pressure into mechanical force, pushing the brake shoes outward against the brake drum during braking. Over time, internal seals can deteriorate or corrosion can form inside the cylinder bore, leading to fluid leaks, sticking pistons, poor braking performance, contaminated brake shoes, or brake failure.

Replacing worn wheel cylinders helps restore safe, balanced braking performance and is strongly recommended during brake overhauls or restorations. TRW cylinders are known for their excellent machining quality, sealing performance, and long-term durability.

Sold individually. Two required per vehicle. We always recommend replacing wheel cylinders in matched axle pairs to maintain even braking performance.
