Type 1 Aluminium Crankcase - 94mm Bore

This aluminium dual relief crankcase is a new replacement engine case for aircooled Volkswagen Type 1 engines, machined to accept 94mm barrels and pistons for large capacity engine builds. The crankcase is the main structural component of the engine, housing the crankshaft, camshaft, main bearings and oil galleries, and forms the foundation that the entire engine is built around.

Manufactured from aluminium, this Auto Linea case is much stronger and more rigid than original magnesium cases, making it ideal for performance engines and high power builds. The dual relief oil system improves oil pressure regulation and oil cooling, while 8mm case savers provide stronger head stud threads. The case is supplied with an oil pick up tube and features the stock top contour so it accepts original cooling tinware and fan housings.

This case is bored for 94mm cylinders, allowing the following engine sizes depending on crankshaft stroke:

  • 69mm crank (standard stroke) – 1915cc
  • 74mm crank – 2054cc
  • 76mm crank – 2110cc
  • 78.8mm crank – 2165cc
  • 82mm crank – 2276cc
  • 84mm crank – 2332cc

Clearancing may be required when fitting stroker crankshafts, larger camshafts or certain oil pump combinations. This case is suitable for upright Type 1 engines used in Beetle, Bus, Karmann Ghia and Type 3 vehicles.
