Heavy Duty 12 Volt Starter Motor 1.4kW - All Type 1 Engines (Baywindow Bus - 1968-75 Only)

Upgrade your classic VW’s starting performance with this Heavy Duty 12V Starter Motor, rated at 1.4kW – double the power output of a standard 0.7kW unit. Designed as a direct fit for manual gearbox models from 1968 onwards, this high-output starter spins the engine faster and more reliably, especially useful on high-compression or modified engines.

This starter motor is a reproduction unit built for performance and reliability. It is ideal for cold starts, worn ignition systems, or cars running uprated or larger-capacity engines.

🛠️ Fitting Note:
We highly recommend fitting a new starter motor bush during installation – see part number 113301155 (sold separately).
Most reported issues with new starters not functioning are due to old or degraded wiring, particularly the low-voltage feed from the ignition switch. Always check that your wiring is in good order, and that all terminals are clean, dry, and secure. For extra reliability, consider fitting a hard start relay.
