Distributor Condensor - Round Hole In The Base Of Distributor

Replacement ignition distributor condenser for Volkswagen aircooled engines fitted with early distributors that use a round hole in the distributor body for the condenser wire. Designed to maintain correct ignition system performance and reduce arcing across the contact breaker points.

The condenser works alongside the points to control the collapse of the ignition coil magnetic field, helping to produce a strong spark while preventing excessive burning of the contact points. A failing condenser can cause difficult starting, misfires, poor running, loss of power and rapid points wear.

This standard replacement condenser is suitable for many original Bosch distributors fitted to 1200cc, 1300cc, 1500cc and 1600cc engines from the mid-1960s through to 1970. It is also used on later 1200cc applications and selected Type 3 models.

Please check your distributor before ordering. This condenser fits distributors with a round hole in the base of the distributor body for the condenser lead.
