Premium quality SACHS 200mm clutch kit for late-model aircooled Volkswagen applications fitted with the guide tube style release bearing system.

This complete SACHS clutch kit is a direct replacement for the original clutch assembly fitted to many 1500cc and 1600cc Volkswagen models from 1971 onwards. Manufactured by SACHS, the original equipment supplier to Volkswagen, this kit delivers the smooth operation, reliability and durability expected from a high-quality clutch system.

The clutch assembly transfers engine power from the flywheel to the gearbox, allowing smooth gear changes and efficient power delivery. Over time, clutch friction material wears, pressure plates weaken and release bearings become noisy, resulting in clutch slip, judder, poor engagement or difficulty selecting gears. Replacing the complete clutch assembly ensures all wear components are renewed at the same time for optimum performance and longevity.

This is the late-style 200mm clutch kit designed for transmissions using the guide tube release bearing system. The pressure plate does not have the centre thrust ring (centre pad), and the supplied release bearing is retained to the clutch cross shaft using fixed retaining clips.

Manufactured to OE specifications, this SACHS kit is ideal for standard restorations, daily drivers and rebuilt engines.

Fitting Notes

• Suitable for vehicles fitted with the late guide tube release bearing arrangement.
• Not suitable for early transmissions using the centre-ring pressure plate and early release bearing system.
• We recommend inspecting the clutch cable, Bowden tube, clutch operating shaft bushes and flywheel oil seal during installation.
• Consider replacing the flywheel gland nut bearing and gearbox input shaft seal when carrying out a clutch replacement.
