200mm Flywheel - Type 1 Engines - 12 Volt

High quality standard replacement 200mm flywheel designed for 12 volt Type 1-based aircooled VW engines. Manufactured from high grade steel, this flywheel is ideal for both stock rebuilds and reliable daily use.

The flywheel is a key component in the engine and drivetrain system. It bolts directly to the crankshaft and provides rotational mass to smooth out engine pulses, helping the engine run evenly at all speeds. It also provides the friction surface for the clutch assembly and carries the starter ring gear. This 130 tooth ring gear engages with the starter motor, allowing reliable engine starting on 12V systems.

This unit features the later O-ring style sealing surface, which improves oil sealing between the crankshaft and flywheel compared to earlier types. The 4 dowel pin design ensures a secure connection to the crankshaft in standard applications, while the balanced construction helps reduce vibration and improve engine longevity.

Designed as a direct replacement for factory 200mm flywheels, it is suitable for engines originally equipped with 1500cc and 1600cc setups from 1968 onwards.
