Replacement rotary headlight switch with integrated dashboard light rheostat for late aircooled Volkswagen models. Designed to provide reliable control of the vehicle lighting system, this switch operates the headlights, side lights and dashboard illumination while also allowing adjustment of dash light brightness through the built-in rheostat function.

This switch is suitable for Standard Beetles from 1970-1979, 1302 Beetle Cabriolet models from 1971-1972, Karmann Ghias from 1971-1974 and Type 3 models from August 1970 to July 1973. It is also commonly used on Baja Bugs and Beach Buggy wiring conversions based on late Beetle electrical systems.

Manufactured for 12-volt electrical systems, the switch features multiple terminal connections including twin 30 terminals for battery feed, terminal 56 for headlight relay operation, 58 for side lights, 58L and 58R for left and right parking light circuits and X terminal ignition-controlled functions.

Terminal Functions:
• 30: Permanent live battery feed from fuse box
• 56: Output to headlight relay/headlight circuit
• 58: Side light and tail light circuit
• 58L: Left-hand parking light circuit
• 58R: Right-hand parking light circuit
• X: Ignition-controlled auxiliary/load reduction circuit

A faulty headlight switch can cause intermittent lights, dash illumination problems or overheating electrical connections. Replacing worn switches helps restore reliable operation and proper lighting control.

This switch requires a 14mm dash escutcheon retaining nut for installation, available separately under part number 111941515D.
