Beetle KONI Steering Damper (Not 1302 + 1303 Models) - 1962-79

High-performance steering damper from KONI, engineered to deliver superior steering control and precision for classic aircooled Volkswagen models. Designed for enthusiasts and performance builds, this damper offers enhanced damping characteristics over standard replacements, making it ideal for vehicles with upgraded suspension, wider tyres, or spirited driving use.

Mounted between the steering linkage and front axle beam, the steering damper functions like a horizontal shock absorber. It controls rapid steering movements caused by road imperfections, reducing unwanted vibration, shimmy, and kickback through the steering wheel. The KONI unit is tuned to provide firmer, more responsive damping, resulting in sharper steering feel, improved high-speed stability, and greater driver confidence.

Compared to standard dampers, this performance version delivers better control under demanding conditions, helping to keep the vehicle tracking straight and reducing steering wander. It is particularly beneficial on lowered vehicles or those running performance wheels and tyres where additional steering feedback control is required.

• Not suitable for 1302 or 1303 Super Beetle models (MacPherson strut suspension)
