Beetle Steering Damper (Not 1302 + 1303 Models) - 1962-79

Replacement steering damper designed to restore stable and controlled steering on classic aircooled Volkswagen models. This component plays a crucial role in absorbing shocks and vibrations from the road before they reach the steering wheel, helping to eliminate steering shimmy, wander, and front-end instability.

Fitted between the steering linkage and front axle beam, the steering damper works like a horizontal shock absorber. As the wheels encounter bumps or irregularities, the damper resists sudden movements in the steering linkage, smoothing out feedback and improving overall driving comfort and control. A worn or failed damper can lead to vague steering, excessive vibration through the wheel, and poor high-speed stability.

This unit is a direct replacement for original equipment and is suitable for all standard Beetle front beam suspension setups (excluding MacPherson strut models). Ideal for routine maintenance or when refreshing the front suspension and steering system.

Important Note:

• Not suitable for 1302 or 1303 Super Beetle models (which use a different suspension and steering setup)
