Beetle Clutch Cross Shaft - 1971-72 - Fully Welded

Heavy duty fully welded clutch cross shaft for Volkswagen Type 1 gearboxes fitted to late Beetle, Karmann Ghia and Type 3 models from 1971-1972. Designed as a stronger replacement for the original factory shaft and ideal for performance engines with uprated clutch pressure plates.

Located inside the gearbox bellhousing, the clutch cross shaft operates the clutch release bearing via the clutch cable mechanism. The release bearing mounts to the centre of the shaft and engages the clutch pressure plate during pedal operation.

Unlike standard original shafts which commonly crack or break around the operating arms, this upgraded version is fully welded 360 degrees around the arms for greatly improved strength and durability under high clutch loads.

Designed for use with later style clutch release bearings featuring integral retaining clips.

Perfect for performance engines, heavy duty clutch setups and reliability upgrades.
