Type 1 Oil Strainer (14.5mm Hole)
Part Number: 311115175A
In Stock
This replacement oil strainer is designed for 1200cc–1600cc aircooled Type 1 engines with a 14.5mm oil pickup pipe, commonly found on early single relief crankcase engines. It is the most common version used on pre-1968 engines.
The oil strainer is a vital part of the engine’s lubrication system. Unlike modern engines with full-flow oil filters, early VW aircooled engines rely on this mesh strainer as the primary filtration system. It sits in the sump and prevents debris, sludge, and contaminants from being drawn into the oil pickup tube and circulated through the engine. Keeping this component clean and in good condition is essential for protecting bearings, oil galleries, and internal engine components.
Over time, strainers can become blocked, damaged, or corroded. Replacing the strainer during routine oil changes helps maintain oil flow and engine longevity. This high-quality unit ensures proper fitment and reliable filtration performance.
