This 215mm lightweight flywheel is a forged chromoly performance upgrade designed for Volkswagen aircooled 1600cc engines. Originally based on the 1976–1979 Baywindow Bus 1600cc AS engine flywheel, this unit can also be used on 1600cc CT engines fitted to early Type 25 buses.
Manufactured from forged chromoly steel, this flywheel is significantly stronger than original cast iron flywheels, making it ideal for performance engines and long-term reliability. The lightweight design (6.5kg) allows the engine to rev more freely, improving throttle response and acceleration while still maintaining good drivability for road use.
This flywheel uses a 215mm clutch, 130 teeth, and a 4 dowel pin crankshaft mounting, suitable for 12V starter systems.
