Replacement rubber camshaft plug for Volkswagen Type 1 aircooled engines using later style Brazilian crankcases without the machined retaining groove found in earlier engine cases.
The cam plug seals the rear of the camshaft bore and is a critical component in preventing engine oil leaks. Over time the rubber can harden, shrink or become damaged during engine assembly, resulting in oil seepage from the rear of the crankcase.
This modern style rubber cam plug is specifically designed for OE replacement crankcases without a retaining groove, commonly found on later Brazilian manufactured engine cases. It provides a reliable seal when installed during engine assembly or rebuilds.
Whenever an engine is rebuilt, a new cam plug should always be fitted to help ensure a leak-free engine.
