Beetle And Bus Ignition Switch And Lock Set - 1974-92

Replacement 6 pin ignition switch with angled end, fitted with 4 large and 2 small spade terminals. This switch sits behind the ignition barrel and controls the electrical circuits for ignition, starter motor and accessory power.

When the key is turned, the ignition switch sends power to the correct circuits in stages. A worn switch can cause non-starting, intermittent ignition power, no dash lights, starter not engaging or electrical accessories cutting out. Replacing the switch restores reliable key-operated starting and electrical control.

The ignition barrel is the mechanical part of the ignition switch that accepts the key and allows the steering lock and electrical ignition switch to operate. When the correct key is inserted and turned, the barrel activates the switch behind it so the vehicle can power up and start. As barrels wear, they can become stiff, jam, fail to turn properly, or allow excessive key movement. Replacing the barrel helps restore correct function and security.
