Beetle EMPI Front Disc Brake Conversion Kit With Drop Spindles (Double Drilled, 5x205 + 5x130) - 1966-79

Complete front disc brake conversion kit with dropped spindles for Ball Joint VW Beetles, Karmann Ghias and Buggy/Baja models. This kit upgrades the original front drum brakes to modern disc brakes while also lowering the front suspension approximately 2 1/2″ for a more aggressive stance and improved handling.

The supplied brake discs are dual drilled allowing the use of either original wide 5 VW wheels with the 5×205 stud pattern or Porsche pattern 5×130 wheels. The discs are threaded for both 12mm x 1.5 wide 5 wheel bolts and 14mm x 1.5 Porsche wheel bolts, making this an ideal conversion for custom street cars, Cal Look Beetles and Porsche wheel conversions.

The included dropped spindles retain near factory suspension geometry while lowering the vehicle, helping maintain ride quality compared to lowered beam adjustments alone. Disc brakes provide improved braking performance, reduced fade and better wet weather stopping compared to original drum brakes.

Please note this kit increases the front track width by at least 1/2″ per side. Wheel offset and tyre clearance should always be checked before fitting, especially on lowered vehicles. Backing plates cannot be used with this kit.

Important Fitment Notes

• Will NOT fit VW 1302 or 1303 Super Beetle models
• 1966-1967 Beetles will require:
  • 311415811C outer tie rod end
  • 311415812C outer tie rod end
• Front track width increases by at least 1/2″ per side
• Backing plates cannot be fitted with this conversion
• Wheel clearance should always be checked before installation
