This front outer conversion wheel bearing is designed to allow later ball joint style brake discs to be installed onto early king pin front spindles fitted to VW Beetles and Karmann Ghias built before July 1965. These specialised bearings are commonly used when upgrading early drum brake vehicles to later disc brake systems while retaining the original king pin front suspension setup.

The bearing compensates for the dimensional differences between early king pin spindles and later ball joint disc brake hubs, allowing the later disc assemblies to fit correctly without changing the complete front axle assembly.

Disc brake conversions provide improved braking performance, more consistent stopping power, better wet weather braking, and reduced brake fade compared to original drum brake systems. This outer conversion bearing works together with the matching inner conversion bearing to complete the installation.
