Beetle 3 Bolt Front Gearbox Mount Adapter - 1961-72

This polyurethane front gearbox mount allows a later 1973 onwards Type 1 style gearbox with the stronger 3-bolt nosecone to be fitted into an earlier 1961-1972 chassis originally designed for the 2-bolt front gearbox mount.

The original 2-hole VW nosecone used on earlier cars can become weak with age and is prone to cracking or breaking, especially on vehicles with uprated engines, hard launches or worn transmission mounts. Later 3-bolt nosecones are much stronger, but they do not normally bolt straight into the earlier chassis. This conversion mount solves that problem by adapting the later 3-bolt gearbox nosecone to the earlier 2-bolt chassis mounting point.

Made from polyurethane, this mount gives firmer gearbox location than a standard rubber mount and helps reduce unwanted drivetrain movement. It is fitted at the front of the gearbox and is supplied with mounting hardware.

Parts That May Be Required
A later 1973 onwards 3-bolt nosecone gearbox or 3-bolt nosecone assembly is required. It is also worth checking the rear gearbox mounts, shift coupling, gear linkage bushes and clutch cable condition while the gearbox is removed.
