EMPI Chromoly 10mm Head Stud Kit - Type 1 Twin Port Engines

Heavy duty chromoly cylinder head stud kit designed for high performance and reliability on VW Type 1 twin port engines running 10mm studs. Around 200% stronger than standard studs, this kit is built to handle increased cylinder pressures, higher temperatures and demanding driving conditions.

Cylinder head studs are critical for clamping the cylinder heads to the crankcase. They maintain correct sealing between the head, barrels and case. Under load, standard studs can stretch or fatigue, leading to compression leaks, head lifting or even engine damage. These chromoly studs resist stretch and maintain consistent clamping force, making them ideal for performance builds, larger capacity engines and hard use.

Manufactured from high strength chromoly steel, these studs are designed to cope with race conditions while still being suitable for fast road engines. Supplied at stock length, they are a direct replacement for original 10mm stud engines.

How It Works
The studs screw into the crankcase and provide the threaded mounting for the cylinder heads. When torqued correctly, they evenly clamp the heads down onto the cylinders, ensuring proper sealing and heat transfer. Stronger studs reduce the risk of loosening or failure under high load.

Important Notes

• For engines originally fitted with 8mm studs, case inserts or conversion may be required
• Correct torque settings and sequence must be followed during installation
• Ideal upgrade when rebuilding or increasing engine performance
