200mm Empi Stage 1 Clutch Pressure Plate (1700Lb)

Performance EMPI Stage 1 clutch pressure plate designed for uprated aircooled VW engines. With a clamping force of 1700lbs, this pressure plate provides increased grip over standard units, making it ideal for tuned engines, larger capacity builds, and vehicles requiring improved torque handling.

The pressure plate works by applying force to the clutch friction disc, clamping it against the flywheel to transfer engine power to the gearbox. A higher clamping force prevents clutch slip under load, especially in performance applications. This unit features a multi-finger diaphragm design, offering smoother engagement and more consistent pedal feel compared to older coil spring types.

Manufactured with a high tensile cast iron alloy contact face, this pressure plate delivers excellent strength, durability, and resistance to heat distortion under heavy use. It is supplied with an early style (pre-1970) release bearing centre ring, which can be removed if required to suit later guide tube-style release bearings—making it compatible across a wide range of models.

Important: For best performance and reliability, we strongly recommend fitting a heavy duty clutch cross shaft when using uprated pressure plates.
