32/36 EPC EMPI Progressive Carburettor Kit - Type 4 Engines

This complete EMPI EPC 32/36 progressive carburettor kit is designed to improve drivability, performance and fuel economy on Aircooled Volkswagen Type 4 engines. Using a progressive twin choke design, the carburettor operates on the smaller primary choke during normal cruising for improved fuel economy, while the larger secondary choke opens under acceleration for increased airflow and performance.

The kit includes everything required for installation including the EMPI EPC 32/36 carburettor, intake manifold, chrome gauze air filter, fuel line, accelerator linkage hardware and cable linkage kit. Ideal for replacing worn original carburettor systems or upgrading to a simpler single carburettor setup.

This carburettor features a vacuum port for vacuum distributor connection, however it will not function correctly with an original vacuum advance distributor. For best performance and drivability, EMPI recommend upgrading to a:

• 009 electronic distributor
• 050 electronic distributor
• Performance ignition coil

This kit will require correct tuning and is highly recommended to be professionally set up on a rolling road for optimum performance and reliability.

Important Notes:

• Fan shroud modification may be required for choke clearance
• On Aircooled T25/T3 2000cc models, engine lid clearance is very tight
• Some engine lid sound deadening may require removal
• A lower profile air filter may also be required and is sold separately
