Solex Carburettor Performance Manifold

Upgrade the performance of your aircooled VW with this high-flow EMPI Solex PICT centre section manifold. Designed to outflow factory manifolds by up to 12%, this is the ideal solution for replacing rusty, carbon-blocked or restrictive original units while gaining noticeable improvements in throttle response and usable horsepower.

What It Does & How It Works

The intake manifold distributes the air/fuel mixture from the carburettor to each cylinder head. On upright Type 1 engines, mixture quality is critical. Poor internal design or blocked heat risers can cause fuel drop-out, flat spots and uneven cylinder filling.

This EMPI performance centre section features optimised internal passages that:

• Increase intake gas flow

• Reduce turbulence and restriction

• Help smooth the reverse pressure wave created by intake valve pulses

The result is improved mixture atomisation, better cylinder balance and stronger mid-range performance — even when using a stock Solex carburettor.

Oversized removable pre-heat tubes ensure proper manifold heating, preventing carb icing and fuel condensation. They can be trimmed for standard engines or retained full length for stroker builds.

If using a 31 PICT carburettor, 11mm head nuts are required.
If a vacuum barb fitting is required, order part number BARB1814 separately.

Some minor fettling or modification may be required depending on application.

Fitment

For use on upright aircooled Type 1 dual port engines (1300cc and later) when used with dual port end castings (sold separately).
