Heavy-duty black lower cylinder cooling tin for the left-hand side of Volkswagen Type 4 aircooled engines.

Proper engine tinware is essential to the cooling efficiency and longevity of any aircooled Volkswagen engine. This lower left cylinder cooling tin has been designed to direct cooling air precisely where it is needed, increasing airflow around the cylinder head and cooling fins to help maintain correct operating temperatures and prevent hotspots.

For many years these tins have been difficult to source, with restorers often relying on used or damaged originals. EMPI has developed an all-new reproduction using modern 3D scanning, CAD design and extensive test fitting to ensure an accurate fit and factory-style appearance. Manufactured from robust 1mm thick steel and finished in durable semi-gloss black paint, this cooling tin provides excellent durability and long-term corrosion resistance.

The integrated M6 x 1.0 welded mounting nuts allow secure installation, while the additional factory-style apertures accommodate spark plugs and cylinder head temperature sensors. Blank-off caps are included where required, ensuring a clean installation with no unwanted air leaks that could reduce cooling efficiency.

This tin is also compatible with EMPI Super Vee performance cylinder heads, making it suitable for both standard restorations and performance engine builds. Maintaining complete and correctly fitted engine tinware is one of the most important factors in keeping a Type 4 engine running cool and reliably.
