Aluminium Oil Filter Head - Top Outlets

This top-quality aluminium oil filter head is designed for full-flow external oil filter and oil cooler installations on classic Volkswagen air-cooled engines. When upgrading to a full-flow system, routing oil externally through a remote filter and cooler dramatically improves lubrication and temperature control—especially on tuned or hard-worked engines. This filter head provides a durable and efficient mounting point for your external oil filter, constructed from high-grade aluminium to withstand pressure, vibration, and sustained heat cycles typical of air-cooled performance setups.

Engineered with both inlet and outlet ports facing upwards once mounted, this layout allows clean and tidy hose routing, avoiding contact with exhaust components and simplifying maintenance access. The ports are tapped for standard 3/8″ male pipe fittings, allowing the use of 1/2″ hose barbs to suit most full-flow installations. This filter head accepts the popular large-capacity FRAM or EMPI HP1 filters, as well as the commonly available VW Golf-type oil filter (056115561), giving you the flexibility to choose the filter best suited for your engine’s needs.

The kit includes the filter head and necessary hardware for mounting. Additional fittings (such as 1/2″ barbs or AN fittings) will be required depending on your hose choice. Ideal for performance engines, long-distance touring, and any air-cooled VW where improved oil filtration and cooling are beneficial.
