These rods are 5.500″ long which is 0.100″ longer the standard length for a VW 1300cc to 1600cc aircooled con rod
Scat I-Beam Rods are manufactured using a computerized machining process which hold aerospace type extremely close tolerances.
Each rod has:
- Centre to centre length of +/- 0.001″
- Big end barrel/bellmouth/taper of +/- 0.0002″
- Little end bore of +/- 0.0002″
- Balanced end for end and packaged into sets of 4 within +/1 1 gram
Rods are made from 4340 high nickel and chrome content material insuring the highest tensile strength and fatigue strength from the multi-step heat treating process.
They are then Shot Peened, X-rayed, sonic tested and magnafluxed. Each rod is then fitted with a 3/8″ 8740 Bolt for extra strength.
