Porsche 996,997 Thermostat Housing With Thermostat (83 Degree)

Replacement thermostat housing supplied complete with integrated 83°C thermostat for a wide range of watercooled Porsche flat-six engines. Designed as a direct replacement for the original factory unit, this assembly restores correct coolant regulation and helps maintain stable engine operating temperatures.

The thermostat is a vital part of the engine cooling system, controlling coolant flow between the engine and radiators. When the engine is cold, the thermostat remains closed to allow the engine to warm up quickly. Once the coolant reaches operating temperature, the thermostat opens to circulate coolant through the radiators and maintain consistent engine temperature.

A faulty thermostat can cause overheating, fluctuating temperatures, poor heater performance or slow warm-up times. Cracked or leaking thermostat housings are also common on ageing M96 and M97 engines. Replacing the housing and thermostat assembly together helps ensure reliable cooling system operation and prevents future coolant leaks.

This unit includes the thermostat pre-installed in the housing for easier installation. During replacement it is recommended to inspect the water pump, coolant pipes, expansion tank and coolant hoses for wear or leakage. Fresh Porsche-approved coolant should always be used after installation.
