Replacement hydraulic cylinder ram for factory fitted electric pop-top roof systems on Volkswagen California camper models. These hydraulic rams are a common failure point on T5 and T6 California campers and can cause uneven roof lifting, roof twisting, slow operation or complete roof malfunction.
The hydraulic cylinders work together as part of the electro-hydraulic lifting system fitted to the California roof mechanism. Two rams are fitted to the vehicle and both must operate evenly to raise and lower the roof correctly. When one cylinder begins to fail internally, the roof can lift unevenly or tilt during operation, placing strain on the hinges and roof frame. Continued use with a faulty ram can lead to expensive damage to the pop-top mechanism or roof shell.
This replacement hydraulic ram is supplied complete with pre-installed nylon bushes, hydraulic line o-rings and retaining clips for straightforward installation. Ideal for repairing leaking, weak or sticking roof lift systems and restoring smooth roof operation.
For best results, inspect both rams together and check the hydraulic fluid level after installation. Hydraulic fluid is not supplied. Use VW hydraulic fluid G060146A2 where required.
