6N Polo Rear Brake Drum

What this rear brake drum does

The rear brake drum forms the friction surface for the rear brake shoes. When braking, the shoes are forced outward against the inner surface of the drum, creating friction that slows the vehicle. Rear drums play an important role in vehicle stability, parking brake operation, and controlled braking during light to moderate deceleration.

How it works

As the wheel rotates, the brake drum turns with it. When hydraulic pressure is applied through the wheel cylinder, the brake shoes expand outward and press against the inside of the drum. The friction generated converts kinetic energy into heat, slowing the vehicle smoothly and evenly.

This drum’s 200 mm diameter provides the correct braking leverage for factory rear drum systems, while the 51 mm internal height ensures proper shoe contact and adjustment. The protective coating helps prevent rust on non-friction surfaces during storage and after installation.
