Passat B7 Rear Brake Caliper (272mm Brake Discs) - Left (TRW)

This rear left brake caliper is a direct replacement for Volkswagen Passat B7 models fitted with solid rear brake discs and a TRW braking system. On RHD vehicles, this caliper fits the passenger side (left-hand side) of the rear axle and is designed to work with 272 mm solid brake discs with a 10 mm thickness.

The caliper features a single 38 mm piston and an integrated mechanical parking brake mechanism, combining both service braking and handbrake operation in one compact unit. Manufactured to match original TRW specifications, it ensures reliable braking performance, correct handbrake function, and long-term durability.

What this rear brake caliper does

The rear brake caliper converts hydraulic pressure from the braking system into clamping force on the rear brake disc, slowing the vehicle and maintaining stability under braking. In addition, this caliper incorporates the parking brake mechanism, allowing the handbrake cable to mechanically apply the rear brake when parked.

How it works

When the brake pedal is pressed, hydraulic fluid pushes the 38 mm piston outward, forcing the inner brake pad against the disc. The caliper body then slides to pull the outer pad into contact, creating balanced braking force.

For parking brake operation, a mechanical screw mechanism inside the caliper applies pressure to the piston when the handbrake lever is engaged. This design eliminates the need for a separate drum handbrake system and keeps the rear braking setup compact and efficient.
