This rear brake caliper – left-hand side is a direct replacement for Volkswagen Passat, Volkswagen Passat CC, Volkswagen Sharan, and Volkswagen Tiguan models fitted with electric parking brake (EPB) and 282mm solid rear brake discs. Manufactured to suit TRW braking systems, this caliper restores correct braking balance, even pad wear, and reliable EPB operation.

RHD clarification: On right-hand-drive vehicles, Left = Passenger Side.

What this brake caliper does

The rear brake caliper applies hydraulic pressure via a 41mm single piston, clamping the brake pads against the rear disc to slow the vehicle in a controlled manner. While the front brakes provide most stopping power, the rear calipers are essential for vehicle stability, smooth deceleration, and proper ABS/ESC operation.

On vehicles with electric parking brake, the caliper integrates with the EPB motor to electronically apply and release the handbrake. A worn or seized caliper can cause dragging brakes, uneven pad wear, overheating, or EPB warning messages—making replacement critical when faults appear.
