12 Volt Starter Motor 0.7kW - All Type 1 Engines (Baywindow Bus - 1968-75 Only)

This 12-volt starter motor is a 0.7kW reproduction unit designed to fit a wide range of aircooled Volkswagen models with manual gearboxes. It is suitable for all VW Beetles, Karmann Ghias, and Type 3 Variants from 1968 onward, as well as Baywindow Buses from 1968 to 1975 and other related models like the VW Trekker, Buggy, and Baja.

Built to OEM specifications, this starter motor delivers dependable cold-start performance and consistent cranking power. It’s a direct-fit replacement for 12V manual transmission setups and is ideal for both restoration projects and everyday use.

Important Installation Note:
When installing this starter motor, it is strongly recommended to replace the starter motor bush (see part number 113301155, sold separately). This ensures proper alignment and smooth operation of the starter shaft.

If the starter motor does not function after installation, the issue is often due to low voltage caused by worn wiring from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid. Before assuming the starter is faulty, inspect all related wiring, and make sure terminals are clean, dry, and securely connected.
