Mk1 Crafter Rear Brake Caliper (298mm Brake Discs) - Right (Bosch)

This replacement rear brake caliper is designed for VW Crafter I models from April 2006 to December 2016, fitted with BOSCH braking systems and solid rear brake discs. It is the correct right-hand rear caliper for vehicles using 298mm diameter x 16mm thick rear discs and PR codes 0WC or 0WL.

On RHD vehicles, this caliper fits the right-hand side (driver’s side).

What the part does & how it works

The rear brake caliper converts hydraulic pressure into clamping force. When the brake pedal is applied, brake fluid pressure pushes the piston inside the caliper outward, forcing the brake pads against the brake disc. The friction generated slows the wheel and helps maintain vehicle stability during braking.

This caliper features a single-piston floating design, allowing it to self-centre over the disc as the pads wear. This ensures even braking force, smooth operation, and consistent pad wear—essential for commercial vehicles such as the Crafter.

A worn or seized caliper can lead to dragging brakes, uneven braking, overheating, or rapid pad wear. Replacing the caliper restores proper braking balance and dependable stopping performance.

Fitting notes

• Sold individually, however we strongly recommend replacing rear brake calipers in axle pairs to ensure even braking performance.

• The braking system must be fully bled after installation.

• Replacing brake pads at the same time is strongly advised.
