This replacement rear brake caliper is designed to fit VW LT Mk2 (LT II) models from May 1996 to July 2006, specifically LT28 and LT35 variants equipped with BOSCH braking systems. It is suitable for vehicles using solid rear brake discs and provides a correct, factory-style replacement for worn or faulty original calipers.

On RHD vehicles, this caliper fits the left-hand side (passenger side).

What the part does & how it works

The rear brake caliper converts hydraulic brake pressure into mechanical clamping force. When the brake pedal is applied, brake fluid pressure pushes the internal piston outward, forcing the brake pads against the brake disc. The resulting friction slows the wheel and contributes to vehicle stability, especially important on load-carrying vans like the LT.

This caliper uses a single-piston floating design, allowing it to self-centre over the disc as the pads wear. This ensures even pad contact, consistent braking force, and reduced uneven wear.

A sticking or leaking caliper can cause dragging brakes, pulling under braking, overheating, or rapid pad wear. Replacing the caliper restores smooth braking operation and predictable stopping performance.

Fitting notes

• Sold individually, however we strongly recommend replacing rear brake calipers in axle pairs to maintain balanced braking performance.

• Always inspect brake pads, discs, flexible hoses, and mounting hardware during installation.

• The braking system must be fully bled after fitting.

• Replacing brake pads at the same time is strongly advised.
