Mk2 LT Rear Brake Caliper (272mm Brake Discs) - Left (ATE)

This replacement rear brake caliper is designed to fit VW LT Mk2 (LT II) models from June 1996 to July 2006, covering LT28, LT31, LT35 and LT46 variants with solid rear brake discs. Manufactured to ATE specification, this caliper provides reliable braking performance and correct factory fitment for later LT models.

On RHD vehicles, this caliper fits the left-hand side (passenger side).

What the part does & how it works

The rear brake caliper is a critical part of the disc braking system. When the brake pedal is pressed, hydraulic pressure forces the internal piston outward, clamping the brake pads against the brake disc. This friction slows the wheel and contributes to vehicle stability, especially under load.

A worn, seized, or leaking caliper can cause uneven braking, pulling to one side, overheating, or rapid pad wear. Replacing the caliper restores proper pad movement, even clamping force, and predictable braking performance.

This caliper uses a single-piston floating design, allowing it to self-centre over the disc for consistent braking and reduced pad wear.

This caliper is only suitable for vehicles using ATE braking systems with solid 272x16mm rear brake discs. Always confirm disc size and caliper manufacturer before ordering.

Fitting notes

• Sold individually, however we strongly recommend replacing rear brake calipers in axle pairs to maintain balanced braking performance.

• Always inspect brake pads, discs, hoses, and mounting hardware when replacing a caliper.

• The braking system must be fully bled after installation.

• Replacing brake pads at the same time is highly recommended for best results.
