Type 25 Diesel Fuel Tank Kit (Also Petrol Models With Carburettor) - 1983-92

Replacement 60 litre fuel tank for Volkswagen Type 25/T3 Transporter models fitted with diesel engines or carburettor petrol engines. Designed for vehicles with the 48mm filler neck arrangement, this tank provides reliable fuel storage and is manufactured as a direct replacement for worn, rusted or leaking original tanks.

Suitable for both diesel and carburettor-equipped Wasserboxer petrol models, this tank features fuel inlet and outlet connections and is supplied with a fuel sender sealing ring for installation. Ideal for restoration projects, fuel system repairs or replacing contaminated or corroded original fuel tanks.

Over time, original T3 fuel tanks commonly suffer from internal corrosion, sediment build-up and fuel leaks, particularly around seams and outlet connections. Replacing the tank helps restore fuel system reliability and can prevent fuel contamination reaching carburettors or fuel system components.

This version is specifically designed for carburettor petrol and diesel applications and will NOT fit fuel injected petrol engines.

There are three of these that seal the breather pipes into the top of the fuel expansion tank.

This 58mm rubber O-ring is a critical sealing component used between the fuel tank and sender unit, ensuring a tight, leak-proof seal in a wide range of classic Volkswagen models. Designed to sit in the recess between the tank opening and sender flange, it prevents fuel vapour and liquid leaks, maintaining both safety and correct fuel system pressure.

Manufactured from high-quality fuel-resistant rubber, this seal is built to withstand constant exposure to petrol, temperature changes, and long-term compression. Over time, original seals harden, crack, or shrink—leading to fuel smells, leaks, or inaccurate sender readings. Replacing this O-ring restores a proper seal and ensures the sender unit operates correctly.

In addition to fuel system use, this versatile 58mm O-ring is also commonly used on G60 supercharger intake pipes, where it provides an airtight seal between intake components. This ensures stable airflow, helping maintain correct boost pressure and engine performance.

Installation is straightforward during fuel sender replacement or tank maintenance. Simply seat the O-ring correctly in the tank groove before refitting the sender unit. It is recommended to check the sender locking ring and tank surface condition at the same time for best results.
