Baywindow Bus Rear Brake Shoes - 1973-79

Replacement rear brake shoe set for all VW Baywindow Buses from August 1972 through to the end of production in 1979. These brake shoes are supplied as a complete set of four to service both rear wheels on one axle.

The rear brake shoes are a key part of the drum brake system. When the brake pedal is pressed, the wheel cylinder forces the brake shoes outward against the inside of the brake drum, creating friction which slows and stops the vehicle. Over time the friction material wears down, reducing braking efficiency and increasing stopping distances. Worn brake shoes can also cause poor handbrake performance, brake noise or uneven braking.

These replacement brake shoes are manufactured to standard specifications and are designed to provide reliable braking performance for everyday driving and restoration use. They are suitable for use with standard rear brake drums and original style wheel cylinders.

When replacing rear brake shoes it is recommended to inspect the brake drums, wheel cylinders, fitting hardware, handbrake cables and flexible brake hoses for wear or leaks. Brake shoes should always be replaced as a full axle set to maintain balanced braking performance.
