This front right-hand brake backing plate is a high-quality replacement for VW Splitscreen Buses manufactured from August 1963 to 1967. As a key component of the front drum braking system, the backing plate provides the mounting surface for the brake shoes, springs, adjusters and wheel cylinder while shielding the braking assembly from dirt, debris and moisture. A rusted, bent or weakened plate can cause brake shoes to sit incorrectly, leading to uneven wear, dragging brakes or poor stopping performance.
Built to original specifications, this replacement plate is designed to fit perfectly on the front right (RHD driver’s side), restoring correct brake geometry and safe, reliable operation on late Splitscreen front drum systems. Ideal for restorations, brake rebuilds or when replacing heavily corroded originals.
