Replacement cranked gearshift selector rod for Volkswagen 5 speed manual transmission models including Mk1 Golf, Caddy, Jetta and Scirocco applications.
This selector rod forms part of the external gear linkage assembly and connects the gear lever mechanism to the gearbox selector shaft. The cranked design is specific to 5 speed transmission models and is essential for accurate gear engagement and smooth shifting operation.
Over time the original selector rod can become bent, worn or damaged due to corrosion, worn bushes or incorrect gear linkage adjustment. Common symptoms include vague gear selection, difficulty engaging gears, excessive shifter movement or poor alignment between gears.
Manufactured as a direct replacement for the original part, this rod restores proper linkage geometry and helps eliminate sloppy or inaccurate gear changes. For best results we recommend inspecting the complete linkage system including bushes, relay shaft components, selector joints and retaining clips during installation.
