G1 Fuel Cap (Without Lock Cover)

This locking, vented fuel filler cap is designed for early Volkswagen watercooled models, providing both security and correct fuel system ventilation. Finished in black with a classic exposed lock barrel (no flip cover), it maintains an original factory look while ensuring reliable performance.

The fuel cap plays an essential role in sealing the fuel system while allowing controlled airflow. The built-in vent ensures that pressure can equalise inside the fuel tank as fuel is used, preventing vacuum build-up and ensuring consistent fuel delivery to the engine. A faulty or incorrect cap can lead to running issues, fuel smells or tank pressure problems, making this a critical component.

This version features a locking mechanism to protect against fuel theft and contamination. Once locked, the cap spins freely, preventing it from being removed without the key. Its durable construction ensures a tight seal and long service life, making it ideal for both restoration projects and everyday use.

Originally fitted to early Mk1 models up to specific chassis numbers, this cap can also be used as a preferred early-style replacement on later vehicles if desired.

Fitting Instructions:
Insert cap in the unlocked position, rotate clockwise until it reaches the stop, then lock. When locked, the cap will spin freely.
