Beetle Master Cylinder - 1966-67 (Single Circuit)

This single circuit brake master cylinder is a high-quality reproduction of the original unit fitted to 1300cc VW Beetles from August 1965 to July 1967 and 1200cc models from August 1965 to July 1969. It also fits VW Karmann Ghias and Buggy/Baja builds from the same period. Designed to work with both left- and right-hand drive configurations, it’s a faithful and reliable solution for classic VW brake system restorations.

The master cylinder features a 17mm internal piston, delivering the correct fluid pressure for single circuit braking systems. It is not supplied with the brake fluid reservoir grommet—please order part number 113611817 if needed.

Important Fitting Notes:

  • Brake Pipe Layout: The port layout on this new master cylinder may differ from the original, so you may need to re-route some or all of your brake lines. When doing so, ensure the brake light switch is mounted below the center line of the master cylinder. Installing it above can trap air in the system and make bleeding the brakes very difficult.

  • Pushrod Adjustment: Correct pushrod end play is critical to safe operation. VW factory specification calls for 1mm of endplay. The pushrod length is adjustable via the threaded shaft and lock nut. In some cases, it may be necessary to shorten the pushrod to achieve proper adjustment.

Perfect for period-correct restorations or functional replacements where original design and reliable performance are essential.
