12 Volt Choke

This replacement 12-volt choke unit is designed to fit standard 30, 31, and 34 PICT Solex carburettors, commonly found on a wide range of classic aircooled Volkswagen models. This good-quality reproduction unit helps restore proper cold-start function by enriching the air/fuel mixture automatically when the engine is cold, improving drivability and reducing wear during startup.

Ideal for vehicles that have lost choke function due to a failed or corroded original unit, this electric choke replaces the original part with minimal effort. It features a standard 12-volt fitting, making it compatible with all 12V charging systems as found in most VWs from the late 1960s onward.

Note: This unit is not suitable for use with T4 twin Solex carburettors or PDIST carburettors. It is intended for use on standard single-carb applications only.

Installation is simple—just remove the old choke element, install the new unit using the original retaining screws, and connect the power wire to a switched 12V source (typically shared with the carburettor’s idle cutoff solenoid). Always ensure proper alignment of the bi-metal coil inside for optimal operation.
