Fuel Pump - Type 1 Engines (Dynamo Models)

This standard upright mechanical fuel pump is designed for classic VW aircooled engines equipped with dynamos/generators. Correct for engines originally fitted with this upright-style pump, it’s ideal for keeping your fuel delivery system working as intended.

The pump uses a 108mm long push rod only—shorter alternator push rods are not compatible. It mounts directly to the engine case and is operated by the fuel pump drive rod driven off the crankshaft.

This fuel pump fits a wide range of Beetles, Splitscreen Buses, Baywindow Buses, and Karmann Ghias but is not suitable for Type 3 models with their original distributor, because the position of the inlet and outlet pipes interferes with the vacuum canister. If you are fitting this to a Type 3, you must use a 009 distributor or similar non-vacuum advance distributor.

Fitting Notes:

• Important: Only for 108mm push rod – check before ordering

• Not compatible with alternator conversion kits without push rod adjustment

• If using on a Type 3 engine, you must replace the original distributor with a 009 unit to clear the fuel pipes

• Always prime the pump and check for leaks after installation
