Replacement heat riser insulation kit for aircooled Volkswagen Type 1 engines fitted with the dual pre-heater inlet manifold system.
This insulation kit is designed specifically for Volkswagen engines equipped with the later dual pre-heater inlet manifold, as fitted to 1300cc AR and 1600cc AS engine code vehicles. These engines use two exhaust pre-heater tubes to provide improved manifold heating, reducing the risk of carburettor icing and helping maintain smooth running during cold or damp weather.
The dual pre-heater arrangement provides more even heating of the inlet manifold than the earlier single heat riser design, improving fuel atomisation and reducing the likelihood of engine stalling caused by a frozen intake manifold.
The insulation fits between the two halves of the dual heat riser clamp plates, sealing the openings between the pre-heater tubes, cylinder cooling tins and rear engine tin. Missing or damaged insulation can allow unwanted hot air leakage, reducing the efficiency of the cooling and manifold heating systems.
Ideal for engine rebuilds and concours restorations, this kit restores the original factory sealing arrangement and ensures the dual pre-heater clamp plates perform correctly.
