Designed for use on all dynamo and alternator pulleys, this shim allows you to easily adjust the tension on your fan belt by simply moving the shims from between the two pulley halves to the outside, between the pulley and the pulley nut.

Fitment and Adjustment:

• Fitment: The shims are placed between the two halves of the pulley. To adjust the tension of the fan belt, simply remove shims from the middle of the pulley and place them on the outside between the pulley and the pulley nut.
• Adjustment: The more shims you remove from the middle of the pulley, the tighter the fan belt will become. Proper tension is crucial for the efficient operation of your vehicle`s charging system.
• Quantity: 10 shims should be used in total for proper adjustment.

This standard top pulley is designed as a direct replacement for the original fitted to 12-volt dynamo or alternator systems on classic aircooled VW Type 1 engines from 1200cc to 1600cc. Finished in a durable black painted coating, it offers a clean OEM-style appearance while providing protection against corrosion and everyday wear.

The pulley is a key component in the engine’s belt-driven system. Mounted on the generator or alternator shaft, it works with the crankshaft pulley to drive the fan belt. This belt powers both the charging system and the cooling fan, making correct pulley condition essential for engine reliability. A worn or damaged pulley can lead to belt slip, reduced charging efficiency, overheating, or premature belt wear.

Manufactured to the correct factory profile, this pulley ensures proper belt tracking and smooth operation. Belt tension is adjusted using shims between the pulley halves (sold separately if required), allowing accurate setup to prevent slipping or over-tightening.
