Type 1 Sump Plate With No Drain Plug Hole

Replacement standard engine oil sump plate for Volkswagen aircooled 1200cc–1600cc based engines. This is the original style sump plate without a drain plug, as fitted to most original VW engines. Oil is drained by removing the sump plate and oil strainer during servicing.

The sump plate fits to the bottom of the engine and holds the oil strainer in place. Over time, sump plates can become bent from over-tightening, which can cause oil leaks. Replacing a distorted sump plate helps ensure proper sealing and prevents oil leaks.

It is recommended to install with new sump gaskets, washers and sump nuts and to avoid over-tightening, as this can bend the plate and damage the engine case studs.
