T5 Rocker Cover Gasket - 1.9 TDI (AXC,AXB)

The rocker cover gasket seals the rocker cover (also known as the valve cover) to the top of the cylinder head. Its job is to prevent engine oil from leaking out of the top of the engine while also keeping dirt and moisture from entering the valve train area. Inside the rocker cover are the camshaft, cam followers and valve gear components, all of which rely on proper oil circulation for lubrication and cooling. The rocker cover gasket ensures this area remains oil tight.

Over time, rocker cover gaskets become brittle due to heat and oil exposure. A failing gasket will usually cause oil leaks from the top of the engine, often visible around the rocker cover edge, oil running down the back of the engine, oil smell, or oil dripping onto hoses or the exhaust. Replacing the gasket restores a proper seal and prevents oil loss and engine bay contamination.

This gasket fits 1.9 TDI engines used in both the Transporter T5 and Golf Mk4 models. When replacing the rocker cover gasket, it is recommended to check the rocker cover for warping and inspect the breather system, as blocked breathers can cause excess crankcase pressure which leads to oil leaks.
