T5 Cylinder Head Bolt Set - 1.9 TDI (BRR,AXC,BRS,AXB)

This cylinder head bolt set is designed for securing the cylinder head to the engine block on Volkswagen Transporter T5 1.9 TDI engines. Cylinder head bolts are high-tensile stretch bolts that are tightened in a specific sequence and torque setting to clamp the cylinder head and head gasket to the engine block, creating a gas-tight and fluid-tight seal between the block and cylinder head.

These bolts are torque-to-yield (stretch bolts), which means they stretch slightly when tightened to the final angle setting. This ensures even clamping force across the cylinder head and helps prevent head gasket failure. Because they stretch during installation, cylinder head bolts must always be replaced when the cylinder head is removed and must never be reused, as reused bolts can lead to head gasket failure, coolant loss, oil leaks or compression loss.

This set includes 10 x M12 cylinder head bolts, each 166mm long, supplied as a complete set for one engine. These are required when replacing the cylinder head, head gasket or carrying out engine rebuild work.

It is recommended to fit these bolts together with a head gasket, timing belt kit, water pump and fresh engine oil and filter when carrying out cylinder head work.
