T4,G2 Water Flange (On Cylinder Head) - 1.8

This coolant flange is a water junction mounted on the front of the cylinder head, designed to distribute coolant between the engine, radiator, and heater system while also providing mounting points for the coolant temperature senders. The senders are secured using the original style U-clips, ensuring a correct factory-style fit and secure sensor installation.

The flange plays an important role in the cooling system by acting as a central outlet from the engine. Hot coolant exits the cylinder head through this flange and is then directed to the radiator and heater matrix. The temperature sensors mounted in the flange send signals to the dashboard gauge and engine management system, ensuring the engine runs at the correct temperature. Over time, the original plastic flanges become brittle and can crack or leak around the seal or sensor ports, making replacement essential to prevent coolant loss and overheating.

This flange includes the base seal and is a direct replacement for original equipment on 1.8 and 2.0 petrol engines, particularly Mk2 Golf GTI 8V models and T4 petrol models. When replacing this flange, it is recommended to check the condition of the temperature sensors, U-clips, and sensor O-rings, as these are common wear items and should be renewed if worn or leaking.
