T25 Idle Control Valve - 2.1 (Fuel Injected)

This Idle Speed Control Valve is an electrically operated valve used on 2.1 litre fuel-injected petrol Waterboxer engines fitted to the VW T25 (T3). Its role is to precisely regulate the amount of bypass air entering the intake system at idle, allowing the ECU to maintain a stable engine speed under changing conditions such as cold starts, electrical load, and warm idle.

When functioning correctly, the valve opens and closes rapidly to fine-tune idle speed. As these valves age, internal wear or contamination can cause them to stick or respond slowly, leading to hunting idle, stalling when warm, poor cold starting, or fluctuating idle speed. Replacing a faulty idle control valve restores correct ECU control and smooth, consistent idling.
